Underground municipal water lines installed in a trench to support looped water distribution systems

According to the City of Weatherford Engineering Design and Construction Manual, water distribution systems must maintain adequate pressure, fire flow, and system reliability to protect public health and safety. For this reason, looped water mains are preferred over dead-end lines because they allow water to circulate from multiple directions, helping maintain consistent pressure, strengthen fire protection, and reduce stagnation. State standards from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality also require minimum pressure and safe distribution.
